Follow that Act! by Kristina WoodhillInto the precious haze
of bats' fantastic flight plans
where pillows stay put
like good soldiers at ease,
my day's kit thrown down
amongst rumpled socks
likewise finished with their
stretched yawnings,
I wandered
or thought
I had a foot step's choice.
Such a haze as this
directs its play from an oddly balanced chair
like a whim of then teetering,
nudging the now, a so brief tug-of-touch.
A movie or second act might appear,
knobs still experimenting with sound levels
of fading sobs
Then! (that pregnant word of well-born stories)
Sweet Friend,
from out the Cavern
of those never forgotten
you just popped
hopped on behind me,
my sizzling feet, dizzy,
now pedaling a small trike
on a street I did not know
straight to the where
of an unreeling script.
Teasing, I called you batty
we, teamed up on three wheels,
a tipsy pair of pals;
I breathed you in
from over my shoulders
claiming your wide smile
like a late night lottery winner
refusing to look back
at the host of
black,
crackling
cloud
caveward bound
11/26/2017 Author's Note: Questions I asked: Can I write about night in a more unique manner; can an actual dream have any impact in a poem if it involves a tricycle; why does the anniversary of the death of a friend bring forth such an odd circumstance?

Posted by George Hoerner on 11/27/17 at 04:51 PM The mind tries to tell us many things at night. I believe most of which we rarely understand. But on occasion we can dig something out of them as I think you have here. And in such wonderful manner!

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 11/27/17 at 09:46 PM I think dreams and poems should be all inclusive and should welcome everyone and everything to the ball, tricycles included. As far as night is concerned, the topic has been broached quite often, still there is room for other interpretation such as is uniquely yours, Kristina. |

But to recapture the trike artifacts of a relationship reappearing in the dream is unique. Well done. It is so refreshing revisiting your work after my long journey away from this still wonderful website. It's good to be back. |
