Yon hipman! Why you seethe?

by Elizabeth Jill

Drop Caps 1

Drop Caps 1

Young Hannah by derision
was flicked into the sea
stampeded by a Gemini
♫ twill be the death of me ♫

Yon oarsman heard her screaming
but ponders it as myth
when salty waves and jawbones claim
♫ the devil's who I'm with ♫

Unsure that one admonishment
could save the foamy past
a Jesuit morse-coded her
♫ I'm caught in Jude's stained glass! ♫

Boom! shadow of the Whooping Crane
perchanced to so bequeath
on hearing this - let go a shout
♫ Yon hipman! Why you seethe? ♫

I seethe for all the slaughterbrogues
those slinky festing yergs
who tromp into the minds of us
and curdle life with words.

Young Hannah has been stolen
by poems in her head
away away away away
♫ By Jave! ♫ I think she said.

Yes, yes and why, and all that swims between, the rime of the modern marinator :>

bwahahahahahahaha! with a bit of a bite and a boat load of humor, you always draw me in. I adore the visual of this piece - music notes and blue caps, and perchance the wisdom of a whooping crane?? I bow...

Brilliant and just awesome on its own terms.

i do enjoy the playing with words. a lot of words i seldom think about used in this one. but it doesn't feel forced. which is a blessing.

You know, there are no better artists than you. You may have peers, but no superiors. You're really marvelous.

Yon poem is very deep, and as a ham radio operator, I think it's very cool to be morse-coded. I rather think I'd like to be stolen by poems. Completely unique and brilliantly creative! JJ

I love it! I doubt it's supposed to sound like the Pogues, but that's the tune I'm singing... :)

Your wordliness is beyond compare, Ms. Jill. I love how you spin the reader mind in torrents yet unknown. A linguists dream embroiled on the tongue of the sea. Outstanding stuff!

Damn Elizabeth, this is fabulous! I don't know how it escaped me so long...I am floored by your sturdy command of language, your vivid and flourishing imagery, and fine tune of a true poet's 'ear' heard throughout...how you weave together such a rich tapestry, mere words of straw spun into gold, you'd leave Rumpelstiltskin dumbfounded and mumbling in your wake...so glad to share this site with the likes of you...it's always a pleasure, peace, ~jewels

Oh that is great. And I love this... "I seethe for all the slaughterbrogues those slinky festing yergs who tromp into the minds of us and curdle life with words." Brilliantly done. So clever.

i can't believe i didn't read this sooner. you have an amazing way with words.

Tender is the Night and Day of this Ode, perish to think, Elizabeth, had you not started your ignition, not stirred your quill from dreams, the fertile tale of yon hipman would not be seethed and these words, cresting in their rhythms would have remained anon at heart, not brought so to fruition.

I also don't know how you do it! Not just an exhibit of language's mastery, but employing it so skilfully; joy dances from each line even if it's satirical here and taking the head in both hands there; and yet it sparkles and sparkles and is just a flashing dervish with scimitars hanging round his skirt!

You have absolutely no business calling me a genius with a talent that so very clearly surpasses my own. This is amazing. Adding this to my favorites right away.
