Posted by Mara Meade on 09/01/06 at 07:26 PM Universal... that's what LOVE is. This is beautiful, assuring, KNOWING, Jill, in its message and observations. |
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 09/01/06 at 07:26 PM Hi Jill. I am admiring the view you have from your place. It is a view with insight. I thought you'd appreciate this Nietzsche quote: "I am driven out of fatherlands and motherlands. Thus I now love only my children's land, yet undiscovered, in the farthest sea; for this I bid my sails search and search". This may be my favorite of your poems, thus far. Bravo! Thanks.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 09/01/06 at 11:21 PM You make me smile from giggle to giggle. There is such a warmth here for all children, all people. Very well done!!! |
Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 09/02/06 at 03:32 AM the beauty of children, jill. i want to laugh in every single language until the child in me emerges once again. you said it soooo well, my lovely friend. |
Posted by Ashok Sharda on 09/03/06 at 02:48 PM Yes, 'It's all the same in a giggle', The chemistery is the same, positive and beautiful. kids derive more charge from their world as they travell less and less in the dead time.We ought to learn a lesson or two from them but then what do we do of our past? Yes, we ought to erase our personal histories and start giggling like kids.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 09/03/06 at 05:35 PM Brings back magic memories of my own childhood at a long line of playgrounds, and later with my son as he grew up. I was the biggest kid, still taking my turn on the swing. Also a subtle message here for parents to let kids be kids. Their spare time shouldn't all be structured, as the playground kind teeaches them valuable lessons in interaction with others and communication, imagination. |
Posted by Charles E Minshall on 09/03/06 at 06:34 PM Giggles the universal language. A joy to read Jill...Charlie |
Posted by David R Spellman on 09/04/06 at 12:41 AM The innocence and unworried joy of childhood is surely a blessed thing. How nice it is to be reminded of it in such a wonderful way as this! |
Posted by Mary Ellen Smith on 09/04/06 at 06:36 AM so true...the universal smile...love this. |
Posted by Peter Humphreys on 09/04/06 at 05:38 PM Jill, it is indeed all the same in a giggle and you can never giggle enough, except perhaps at a classical concert? I just loved this poem, it made me smile and made me feel happy. Thank you. |
Posted by Mara Meade on 09/05/06 at 08:05 PM Had to come back for another read.... this is so pure, Jill. So pure. |
Posted by Maria Terezia Ferencz on 09/06/06 at 12:22 AM Universal language: laughter and crying
Children are smart enough to use most of the former, when they grow up (down) they forget this wisdom....great reminder of how we could be. |
Posted by Cassandra Leigh on 09/09/06 at 03:55 PM wow. i've read many poems more or less on this topic, and i think yours captures it the most perfectly. great form and the last line is just right. favorite. |

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/15/06 at 11:41 AM like those children, I am certain, I fathomed the wisdom of nonsense, once, so completely did I fathom it that I think, it is a habit as yet to completely diminsh in me. I think it habits the poems I write and for me, fortuitously so. but this is not about me, but the wonderful way you have written these words, with illustrate great clarity and facility of line and form and substance------all, qualities much cherished in my world. |
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/28/07 at 04:54 PM Wondeful, this poem is a playground in itself, carefully constructed for delight. I love the concept of the children "surrendering themselves" to it, and I know that feeling very well, as children enter such space and with a sense of relief and playfulness their voices instantly seem to join the collective "giggle" and the happy sound level rises. Similar to us walking into this poem! |

Posted by Jim Benz on 06/21/07 at 08:55 PM if ever there was a spirit of beauty weaving between the lines of a poem, I think it can be found here. How did this one manage to avoid my favorite list for so long? |

Posted by Bruce W Niedt on 06/25/07 at 12:59 AM What a splendidly positive poem - sentimental and hopeful without a touch of saccharine. Maybe that's part of the problem with our world - that most adults have forgotten how to giggle. And what a great eye-catching title. Congrats (belatedly) on POTD! d:-) |
Posted by Aaron Michael on 08/07/07 at 10:41 PM profound. i would have put this in a spotlight, but it's been there all ready.
i'll just shine what little light i have, and call it beautiful. |
Posted by Kerowyn Rose on 01/14/09 at 12:40 AM Lovely! The innocence of children who have not experienced enough in life to make them worry. I can hear the giggles in this. Thanks for sharing. :) |
