A Rose by any other black squirmy line still smells

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

It just occurred to me
everything, I mean EVERYTHING
is made of these
BLACK SQUIRMY LINES
that don't mean anything
at all
unless they are read
if they lay here
long enough
never seen
all they are
all they will be
BLACK SQUIRMY LINES
dying without meaning
it takes a transfer
from eyes to mind
to give birth to
BLACK SQUIRMY LINES
to bring them to life
these the flesh of abortion
that was never a child

Author's Note: This abortion was originally performed in my journal....I think I need to be brainwashed.

If you think of the black squirmy lines as strings in string theory, this piece takes on a whole new dimension...12 of them actually.

I love the basic concept, and how you express it. Much truth and wisdom here. Not sure if abortion is the right word, but the rest works fine for me. Here's to black squirmy lines!

P.S. I guess it could be described as abortion when one abandons a poem.

There's a pretty blatant truth here. Good writing!

Unique view of writing - black squirmy lines - almost makes me feel like they are just sitting there with pent up energy, anxious to be read and understood. Good write!

Hi Maria. Like this. The tone is rather stark and the texture near edgy. Maybe we all need to move that way once-in-a-while. Fine work. Thanks.

I'm so glad I know how to read black squirmy lines or I would have missed this wonderful poem! :)

calls to mind the reading of a personal journal, the most private painful thoughts brought to life with voice. the angles and curves monsters coming out from under the bed, or better yet, the dizziness from nausea, the head spin. this absolutely frightened me. edgy and provocative read. PK
