Wild Honey

by JD Clay

you tasted like ambrosia
sweetness rarely found and
even harder tamed

savoring every drop I
consumed your entirety
devouring the comb itself

falling asleep inside the
golden spiral of your heart
I woke to discover I was

sharing you with a stranger
someone vaguely familiar
speaking in a gentle tone

I heard my voice my words
echoing through my mind then
licked my lips to recall the

voracious bear that ignored
the buzzing of the bees
for the taste of nectar

screaming at this stranger
my calls fell to the ground
shattering into fragments

I tore at his flesh exposing
the kindred spirit of my self
revealing everything I've become

a heavy sweetness filled the air
remembering the hive I felt
the sting of a thousand bees

A most insightful poem Jadi...reminded me of the lyrics to that Billy Joel song, "The Stranger"...Fantastic writing indeed!

Ahhh so good to hear from the muse of Jadi again! I second Graeme's comment concerning the insight into the human mind and spirit. What most delights can also "sting" when whetted appetite is uncontrolled!

and to such persistence is given the transcendental key. You've earned a turn Jadi.

I too delight in your return and in the fact that others beyond this space will be able to enjoy your gift. The metaphors are delicious and dangerous, two human experiences that all too often accompany each other. Oh what fruits sleep brings. Excellent poem, my friend. And congratulations!

Sweet and painful. It is very good to see a green carrot beside your name again! :)

Some really interesting twists in this, replete with wonderful imagery. An excellent read worthy of the publication.

Fascinating glimpse into the honeycomb of your mind J.D. Definitely worthy of publishing as you've stated. Congrats!

The two natures that live side by side... in the same body... each answering the call of his own Self. Whooo... thank you. Made me think.

Oddly selfish how we, the readers can twist poetry to mean what relates to us on a personal level. This carries an entirely different meaning to me than that of Mara.
Hmmmmm, very interesting. Glad you can finally share this one, I've been in jadi-withdrawls for quite some time now. LOL As with all your poetry, I love it. :)

Oh this is sweet, but unfortuantly since I have a young child I cannot read this and NOT think of Pooh. Lol

wow...i could fall asleep in the lull of the beauty of your words...again, wow...

Such strong moment of realization, and self healing... entering into the heart of life, the busy hive, ignoring boldly possible sting and tasting the true untamed delicious exotic nectar set into the inner chamber of the spiral heart, the spiral honeycombed instinctively constructed beauty. Fallen into a swoon from the intensity of experience and the sweetness, he awakes to find echoing in that acoustic wonder-- his own voice ("gentle") what he has become... the "voracious bear" has come into his own, possessed that place, he lures those who sense, into the sweet place with him... I will stay here, soothed, dreamlike, relaxed, be at one with honeycomb, be a wild flowers and feel but not mind the sting of those thousand bees here where "a heavy sweetness" fills "the air".
