Posted by Mara Meade on 12/04/03 at 10:14 PM Scary that something as inconsequential (now) to us will outlast us. I wanted to laugh but I couldn't.... and Paul, you are one sick puppy.
Posted by Michele Schottelkorb on 12/05/03 at 02:42 AM well, why don't you just be that way... telling it like it is... unbelievable... i would love to say that your insightful poetry amazes me, however, i am one of the lucky accustomed patrons of your gift of words and i am no longer amazed... i am absolutely in awe... thank you for bringing a very trithful predicament to light here in yet another brilliant piece of writing... yep, you rock... blessings...
Posted by Michele Schottelkorb on 12/05/03 at 02:43 AM i mean truthful... see, i am in such awe that i can no longer spell... lol
Posted by Agnes Eva on 12/05/03 at 06:25 AM far seeing into i hope an enormously distant future. it's true! those things don't decompose! we shall be known by our garbage, crazy...
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/05/03 at 02:05 PM You have an amazing talent Max for turning everyday observations into dark, sometimes cyncical poetry, and yet done so intelligently, they're both entertaining and thought provoking. Wish I had written this...glad you did!
| Posted by Lori Johnson on 12/05/03 at 06:24 PM I oft wonder what the experience of living in your head for a day might bring....the thought fills me with curiosity, but also fear! LOL
I love this. Finding such interesting thoughts in things that exist without much consideration is a great talent of yours. LOL

Posted by Christel Crews on 12/05/03 at 08:05 PM kinda makes me think... interesting piece :)
Posted by David R Spellman on 12/05/03 at 11:43 PM Makes you really think what kinds of things would be left for the future. The use of "hot bag of air" also makes me question just what you're referring to - the plastic bag or the humans who left it behind? A fun and thought provoking read, as is usual for you.
Posted by Jeanne Marie Hoffman on 12/06/03 at 12:00 AM This is incredibly well written. I think the last two lines do well to end the piece strongly
Posted by Traci Mabats on 12/06/03 at 02:18 AM I save my plastic bags, hey they come in handy :P
Posted by Christina Bruno on 12/06/03 at 04:44 AM another great one! :D keep 'em coming
Posted by Laura Doom on 12/06/03 at 12:03 PM ozymandius reincarnated? you capture my mood so perfectly :)
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 12/06/03 at 07:33 PM Excellent commentary on too large a part of our culture!
Posted by Rachelle Howe on 12/06/03 at 10:27 PM this cracks me up more than you could ever know. i mean, *WAY* more than you could ever know. i just started laughing and didn't quit until i shut up with the last line. very thought provoking, very vivid. i LOVE IT.
Posted by Kate Demeree on 12/08/03 at 08:04 PM *shaking head*.. How very right you are. I liked this bit of poetic insight. Funny but the deads do really outlive the doer don't they?
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 12/09/03 at 01:17 PM no ephemera, this bag of useless technological wind, will outlive love and all ideology.
| Posted by Charles E Minshall on 12/19/03 at 04:18 AM I have the answer, I will take them with me when
I leave this world. They will burn up where I
am going....Charlie (Good poem Max) |
Posted by Ginette T Belle on 01/20/04 at 05:07 PM mind blowing...simply amazing...
Posted by Maureen Glaude on 01/28/04 at 11:37 PM amazing, and now that there's talk of grocery bags being germ-risky, very timely! I'm sure they will have plenty to scratch their heads over after our period in history is done. My daughter's an ancient civilisation student, I must show her this fun one. Thanks.
Posted by Ann Krischus on 04/09/04 at 05:27 PM it's very hard to make a poem on the environment work, but you did it!
Posted by Vimal Rony on 06/08/04 at 01:43 AM I am sure u are a poet with a huge IQ!
| Posted by Ulyss Rubey on 06/08/04 at 04:09 PM Great! I hadn't read this before now. I had penned a little poem about an actual experience I had a about a month ago.
Fifty clicks from Abilene-
Where man or beast may have no say
Desert view untouched, pristene
Yucas reach with white bouquets. .
Enthralled I slow the car to stare-
My peaceful mood is taken back,
One lowly lonely prickly pear,
Cavorting with a Wal-Mart sack.

Posted by Gabrielle L Gervais on 06/21/04 at 04:46 PM wow, lots of comments, i might as well throw mine on there as well... well, considering i've spent my life wish i were an archeologist (i havn't given up yet), I love this piece! a perfect expression
Posted by Leslie Ann Eisenberg on 10/15/05 at 01:17 AM so beautiful in its simplicity. it calls to mind the "plastic bag theme" from american beauty, and the very moving, wordless documentary, "koyannisqatsi." ......i don't know if i have ever seen so many comments on one piece! you definitely deserve a nomination for POTD!
Posted by Nicole Assenza on 12/03/05 at 03:25 AM This is funny <3.
