Thank You God For No Wings(Philosophical)

by Vimal Rony

'Politics' the biggest sin divided us.
Boundaries drawn, 'Our world' became a fancy word.
Kings and queens and Presidents, we bow to.

Denied is the right to travel freely,
in this savvy to say 'global village'.
Oh God did you foresee this?

No wonder you didn't give us wings.
Else that sky too wld have been demarcated.
That star would have been put for sale.
That moon would not have been mine and yours.

Now, at least i can look at the sky
and feel i am universal.
Thank you God for no wings
coz you foresaw the madness among us.
And winged only our hearts.

politics is madness, a slight of hand in which the fools falling incessantly for its allure with every rabbit it pulls out of its topper. provoking work, and much winged is your heart, Vimal

Interesting look at the divisions we seem to can't help but to create; some excellent lines.

-sigh- Vimal, this is so true! It seems humankind can't have ANYTHING without taking it to its furthest limits. I like the idea of the sky being universal, and that only a more spiritual part of us can take flight. That is indeed something to be thankful for.

Those last two lines say it all. Nice unexpected angle of expression here.

What a wise concept! Yes, thank God for our limitations, perhaps they keep us from annihilating our race! Most excellent expression, V!

really a brilliant, modernly cynical vision you've had here... you know stars are for sale here, you can get a 'certificate' and get a star named for someone as a gift (starfoundation.net. but i do love your last line about winged hearts.

I love the way the poem powerfully delivers your sentiment... and touches on my own. It seems that politics all to often seems to limit us. But your poem expresses the freedom available to all of us if we just stop and look around... and up. The last line is the best... sheer genius... creative and uplifting work, Vimal!

Such astonishing perspective, expressed with such perfect imagery.

The second verse reminds me of how my friends in the Czech Republic cannot visit me without a huge hassle because the US is afraid of the communist influence still in that country... but its democratic even! And they can't come here just to visit. Great points made
