shapeshifter

by Betania Tesch

I am a shapeshifter--
one moment so clear
so clearly possessed (by you--yours)
so clear that you run
into me, hitting your head
with a dull thwack--
another so shrouded
and guarded (against you--mine)
so shrouded in illusion
that you can only imagine
my existence into reality.
I morph and split
from one appetite to another,
always hungry
for skinfleshbloodbonechaos,
oh sweet pandemonium,
wrapped in need's guise.
I am a shapeshifter--
androgynously sensual,
so sensually sexual,
stimulating softness
so sensual as only a manwoman
can appeal to everyone.
I fit into your keyholes
and your throat.
I keep your body out
and your words in
before I simply
change shapes and disappear.

A plus for us all this wonderful adaptation of sci-fi well applied to the romantic and sensual. If I forget, Happy Birthday also! See you've got one coming up on Saturday. :o)

is it as we like it or as they do, as we feel it or as they will? Fine poem Bethany.

The Trekers never did it so well or with such passion and angst as thee, my dear. I love the title and the way you have expressed it as an all too human phenomenon.

well, word on the street is that women are the 'adaptable' creature, this poem takes it all the way
