1 Down (3) by Laura DoomYes, of course I believe in
a being conceived as the perfect,
omnipotent, omniscient originator
and ruler of the universe,
the principal object of faith
and worship in monotheistic religions.
Why wouldn't I have faith in
a supernatural being, who is worshipped
as the controller of some part of the universe
or some aspect of life in the world
or is the personification of some force.
And if not, then at the very least
someone who is very important to you,
who you admire very much,
and who strongly influences you.
Who could argue
with such poetic majesty
and justice?
How else do I explain
evolution's divine elegance
sleeping with
the feral illusion of free will?
There are no answers
only lovers and scapegoats.
Look at the way we treat each other.

Posted by Nadia Gilbert Kent on 06/19/22 at 04:20 AM Excellent points, excellently articulated. However, I would be remiss by not adding that your mother's a "feral illusion." ;) |

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 06/21/22 at 10:35 PM I really like thinking here about what we humans have created for answers to big questions. Love the "feral illusion of free will," and that killer last stanza. |
