November Blues

by Chris Sorrenti

*sigh*

another morning
tired of the rain
tired of the damp and cold
though the sun occasionally comes through
furnace already comes on
though the snow has yet to arrive

*would rather have that than the rain*

tired of the radio
hearing the same news reports
hour upon hour
tired of TV
and of the politics
on both sides of the border
it conveys
though an occasional good movie
offsets the negativity

tired of the poetry
though fortunately
somebody continues reading my poems
*thank you*
and a certain muse that playfully
keeps tickling my brain

but it’s not yet time for me to go
so as each year goes by
will keep on writing out these

*November blues*

My favorite lines: and the muse playfully / keeps tickling my brain. Sometimes I fear that aging and too many blue November will quiet my muse but even that must be written. I love the way you take your condition and turn it into a poem, a flower in the midst of the cloudy rainy days before the snow falls. Thank you my friend.

Love the honesty and the frustration of your poem, Chris. I think anyone who is still in touch with their emotions can relate and share in this sentiment. I am still waiting the day when poetry will upstage politics for once in its life. I choose a poem over a politician any day. Poetry, for its many curves is still more honest and strsightforward that politicians could ever be, in fact who never are. The consequences of which we suffer incessantly.
