Sapphire Sadness by Clara Mae Gregory In the nebulous night,
the moon's pearly smirch
emblazing with shine,
becomes pallid and plain
as a dimmed starflame
goes drab and ashen.
Diffused in sapphire sadness,
the memories vanish
within the cloud's rain,
grief casts upon the planet. 09/27/2017 Author's Note: revised poem

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 09/28/17 at 03:36 AM Superb juxtaposition between light and darkness, Clara Mae. Reminds me of this summer of hurricanes. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/02/17 at 10:04 PM An elegant description of a grim scenario. Sapphire sadness is a vivid phrase and I do like thinking about a moon's smirch. Thanks! |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/08/17 at 06:18 PM I like the phrase, sapphire sadness, it forces me to think of the dark and the light and how they mix. This is a favorite theme of my own poetry. The moon has the ability to cast humans into a variety of moods. Sometimes I wonder if God put it there for poets. Thanks, Clara Mae. It is good to be back on these pages. |
