up to the light by Philip F De Pinto baby
I don't have
to hold you
up to the light
to know if you are
counterfeit currency
all I have to do
is hold you
in the dark
to know you
are legal tender
what splendor
to see you
walking up the stair
with that certain flair
and me on your tail
preamble to some cataclysmic event
which was always likely
to follow
and angel
it is not within my power
to go back in time to putty in
what was cracked in our relationship
but only to move forward in time
and love you time after time
and angel
did I tell you
that since you went away
to stay
I will be alone today
all day
as I was alone all day
yesterday
as I will be alone
all day tomorrow
practice makes perfect
so say the lonely

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/21/17 at 05:39 PM Beautifully tragic, Phil. Excellent buildup to that last stanza.
Posted by George Hoerner on 06/23/17 at 03:17 AM I know you will never forget her. One never forgets a real love do they!
Posted by Kris Mara on 06/27/17 at 10:00 PM grabs hold from the start and never lets go...with the details you weave together so well, so precisely...all combined with the heart of the matter...amazing as usual.
Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/19/17 at 02:57 PM Phil, what a clever beginning. And the way you turn it into something so sad but real is amazing. You inspire me to close my eyes and let my imagination plunder into poetics. Thanks my friend.
