Only Those by Philip F De Pinto
Only those are great
Who see it not reflected in themselves
As elves think not in a world of elves
They are lacking or wanting in stature
Who skirting prose
Are not afraid to mate
With poetry above reproach to kiss its nose
Not with a puckering verb or noun
With lip gloss that is circumspect
As cannot reflect
Nor pin the poem down
Nor think to grasp it
With the curvature of their toes
And fly away to heaven knows
To gloss over its every feature
As every flying creature knows
Poetry does no avail itself to laws or claws
Nor pinning down
As is the need in despot and truth
And other such brute
For sooth poetry is but a wind free
Cavorting with itself ever on the fly
Above all things which once had a calling
Not to have a falling
Out with you or I asking why
The far flung
Have searched
And when weary perched
On the uppermost rung
Of all possible acme
And for fun
Outshone the sun

Posted by Kris Mara on 01/24/17 at 12:45 AM Winding my way through your words again is incredible...I think the word that always comes to mind is clever...the flow and meaning...the sounds and impeccably placed words are just always magnificent. So glad I was able to stop in and read you tonight. |
