He Wished Nay For Christmas To Give His Love Save by Philip F De Pinto
an ode simple
as the lotuses in the child
opening the aperture of their wild eyes
for the first time
that her pond
lay claim and tame their desire
to remain wild
or increase in such
a wilderness
beyond reproach
what dreams!
what dreams enchanted
may have come to us
my love
had we remained the course
had God granted
my delicious wish
for us to remain
simple as this ode
and innocent as a child
opening the aperture of its wild eyes
as when mine opened unto yours
for the first time
and were laid bare
of their desire to remain wild
and should we e'er reconstitute
the course of my delicious wish
my love
what dreams
what dreams enchanted
may as yet come to us
to default the domesticity
with which familiarity breeds
as to increase in us a wilderness
beyond the beyond
