fearing fear by Gail Wolper
confronted with another way to do things
to learn a language never spoken
to love what cannot be loved
to become the most beautiful woman
without changing a thing
daring to be outrageous
without inhaling the morally reprehensible
running from the politically corrupt
despite temptation
allowing forbidden love
between two souls
and painting the painting
my mother never dared to know
i can't stop running
broke the garbage disposal
obliterated the lotto machine
trembled while tumbling the castle but
it wont stop
i cant get it to flee

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/25/14 at 05:36 PM "trembled while tumbling the castle but" - I'm intrigued by this line especially. This is full of the human condition and struggles, explorations, motivations. I like the lotto machine and garbage disposal littered along this way of words, tangibles in a journey of thoughts. Thanks for this. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 04/05/14 at 01:58 AM Brilliant and pleasantly unexpected, Gail. IMHO I would cut out that second stanza to give it more impact, but as a fellow poet, I know how much we love to hang on to lines; perhaps the start of another poem?!?! |
