Weather on Vacation

by Kristina Woodhill

today
no rain
will fall
nor trace
defining lines
below each
sloping roof;
walls could
request
a get-away

today
no hints of hail,
clouds fled on tails
of your expressed
exacting wishes,
dew called in sick this morning
coolly fickle
in the face of wind's excuse
to swish and sweep
all the above aside,
then find some
cave within
to howl
at bats,
october's whim

today
no fog to hide
my thoughts
behind,
soft leather
gloves
i'll fling
and here's
the best -
i love
no need
for coat
no socks,
encumbrances
begone,
in truth
i will divest

today
i stand
before you
bare,
calmly
absorb
your
sideways stare,
awaiting
what must
surely be
your next
set of
instructions

This poem is simply enchanting. Dare I say one of your finest?

Very nice Kris...pleasantly unique. Reminds me of how both September and October have been absolutely fabulous this year in Ottawa...summer like sunshine and temperatures. Kudos!
