Record Album

by Chris Sorrenti

I looked on the back of a record album
Between the pictures and lines spied a window
Through it I could see
What had been
Saw what was to come

People I had laughed and cried with
Places where I’d someday live
Things unimportant to be forgotten
Subjects that had to be known
Battles I’d lost without complaint
Wars that would have to be won

I looked on the back of a record album
Heard the notes and lyrics to the songs inside
Learned off the radio side by side
With the vision of windows I’d yet to see
On albums still to be bought

A most fascinating record album - to see back and forward simultaneously would be a mind boggling experience. I have to say that music and certain songs inspire, bring back sharp memories, and sooth. Your album seems to be a crystal ball. Thanks, Chris.

Kris, I've spun the very album of which you speak so endearingly. Yes I've spun this album and will continue to spin it, though it skips in many places, where all the heartaches took place.
