Oh Rose!

by George Hoerner

with your lips
so tightly wound
round yourself
all night waiting
for the sun’s
light shafts
to come
silently brushing
you open as
i have oh so often
dreamed to do

watching for
the first sign
of moisture
appearing between
those softest
of all lips
the parting
of which
oh no, must wait

and never
come to these
eyes of mine
so blind they
would become
but once they
touched my lips

and dreams
of young love
produced what
could only
be expected

and now
as age slowly
catches up
with youth
forever
over throwing
those young
dreams that
were only that

the knowledge
that these lips
will never
though they
touch all
other lips
find lips
as unselfish
as yours

and i loved
all those other
lips nearly as well
but it be yours
i have carried
every where
and shall till
i lean through
the window frame
and fall into
my grave

Oh George! Hee Hee .. i like this muchly and feel rather develishly bad that I'm laughing right now. Love the old feel of this the kiss of death. Your last verse is vunderbar

Yes, quite sensual, erotic, even mildly pornographic. A truly titulating piece, but not in a vulgar way, and not without its positive humanity.

another poem of yours George, to marvel its truth. I understand to well this pining of lips, not just any lips but the certain kind that your soul can never leave behind.

In that last verse, George, you convince me you've had access to my secret autobiography...and the rest of the poem is just deliciously fine!

Such a fine unfolding of this rose and lips. Charming, sensual, inevitable. Loved that window frame.
