peace of heart by Maria Francescaturn off the radio
turn off the t.v.
turn off the lights
and the Christmas tree
blow out the candles
lay down on the floor
embrace the great nothing -
don't think anymore
shut off your eyes
and disable your ears
and be still in the dark
'til the world disappears
and go to that place
where the rain's soft and warm,
where the breeze is forgiving -
where there aren't any storms,
where the children play safely,
where everyone's kind -
just lay there and go to
that place in your mind
without fear
without pain
without hurt
without hate -
just lay there
and visit that heavenly state
then slowly and gently
come back to yourself
and to friends and to family
and everyone else,
and if you can be
just a little bit strong,
then grab on to that heaven
and bring it along
and spread it around -
it's the best way to start
to get and to give
some peace of heart. 12/18/2012 Posted on 12/18/2012 Copyright © 2025 Maria Francesca

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/20/12 at 12:13 AM Beautiful poetry, Maria. I was going to say it sounds 'heavenly,' but I see you put that in there too. Fine poem for Christmas and in light of the recent event. |
Posted by Dan Linn on 12/25/12 at 11:21 PM I like the travel of this poem, the simplicity of it's language, the Zen of it's philosophy, and the innocent truth. |
