grammar

by George Hoerner

the words
that ring
in my ear
slowly bring
a tear

i am not
sure why

but meaning is
never as clear
as when a
grammarian
is near

unless one
is using twitter
in which case
the rules fly
up in the sky

no doubt
historic rules
need be
no doubt historic rules need be re-writ to tidy up our lit a bit

One doesn't need to Twitter to see bad grammar or spelling. Just check out the comments on any newspaper article. Thoughtful piece George. Very well layed out.

I could not agree more! This is so such a witty response to all that abbreviated and 'alternate' spelling nonsense out there today! One of my favorite FB groups is one called "Yes, I write out complete sentences in my text messages!" Nice work George.

Wonderful simplicity and quite enjoyable.

you are always on the cutting edge, George, your commentary on modernist behavior, concerning linguistics or otherwise is always on target and this one is no exception.
