the weight of a broken womb

by Colleen Sperry

her treasure less box
now plays a slow, tattered song
lies flat on cold steel
sterile cuts pull back the peeling paper
no longer protecting the stage for any dance
the damaged gears examined by hopeless hands
clearly beyond repair
skilled hands close the top
and the broken ballerina is stilled

It's a crisp, unforgettable image you're painting here. Fantastic work.

You've sooooo described that loss in a way that most of us could not. Thank you for this, for sharing, and for giving this loss a voice. *hugs*

Despite being a man, I feel your pain, as you've so poetically described and ascribed.

I can hear the mournful song this evokes.

This is excellent! Powerful stuff indeed.

This is heavy and powerful, as it should be. I cannot fathom how much this weighs to you, but it means a lot to me. So beautifully done.
