A lost dog is not a lost soul by Lori BlairI once disagreed to not agree
then agreed, inside, instead
never mindful, without heed
my soul, souless beneath
a fountain, undrank, stank the times
ink pen not worth its grief
I'd let it rot beneath a sea of placidity
where smooth stones know themselves
more than you
and me
Lost dog, forever,
beneath it's sheep
lost in silence, too friendly,
to beg for treats
nothing but silence plaits the mind
until you see for yourselves
whose who and whose
disbelief
A crossed crowd cries, just as blind,
no photographs that hide
their crystal insides
no room for confusion, now,
too many excited by what they see!
Is it real or just a deceit?
An angel, once imagined, appeared to me
said too many fighting nigh
inside, never looking without
no use inciting a sign
if all we see is misunderstood
can't we see the violence
inside our minds without what's outside of "tried"
too many allowed a fight
for what they
think is right
Lost dog, forever,
beneath it's sheep
lost in silence, too friendly,
to beg for treats
nothing but silence plaits the mind
until you see for yourselves
whose who and whose
disbelief
A crossed crowd cries, just as blind,
no photographs that hide
their crystal insides
no room for confusion, now,
too many excited by what they see!
Is it real or just a deceit?
And I saw all there was within me here
there wasn't more to share but fear
for all I believed running scared
reality ran its ink
towards hide and seek, unseen,
but ink pen realized its mind
no compromise for weak as you and me are the same
no use uninviting the truth
when we know
it's not just you and me!

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 01/06/12 at 03:35 AM An excellent example of how one can have fun playing with words. I feel happily lost in the surf of the sea of words. And that's a good thing! |
Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 01/06/12 at 12:58 PM splendid as always, Lori. this line alone ----------- but ink pen realized its mind --------is worth the price of admission. that line is mind blowing. |

Posted by Tony Whitaker on 01/11/12 at 09:19 AM Wow, I am so glad to have stopped by to pay a visit to this site of all days. There you are, rightfully at #1. Your way with words always astounds me and the many surreal scenes which pop into my mind made me read this over and over. Its like licking a tootsie roll pop waiting for that "crunch" to find that goodie inside! Brilliant! Added to my faves! |

Posted by George Hoerner on 07/30/17 at 12:17 AM I've seen a few dogs, but more people, with 'lost souls' than I'd care to count. But then at 80 I fear I'm not sure what 'soul' is. Oh I've been told by a few people but I suspect that I'm more dense than the normal (which I'm not) human being. I have enjoyed the poem but may not have understood it. But I've met a number dogs which had greeter souls than I. Take care lady!! |
