Lifetimes Without You by Lori BlairLifetimes without you
forever till the end
the earth is a gloomy stain
never reaching to befriend
as long as these hours accord
it's so hard to understand
the truth was as we wanted it to be
they tell me I don't comprehend
but
beauty was engaging
within eyes that relent
we just lived as we wanted to
never imagining an end
and I try to tell myself
what I wished to be the end
forever the truth is; you and me
as soulmate and not as friend
cuz I still miss you
and while,
memories have faded
what was red then now pink
defended my own honor
cuz this heart never failed to think
but guilty from pleasure
from those times of before
it will always be enough
if that is all, and nothing more
but I still miss you
and so
lifetimes without you
forever till the end
the earth is a gloomy stain
never reaching to befriend
as long as these hours accord
it's so hard to understand
the truth was as we wanted it to be
they tell me I don't comprehend
but I still miss you
even so
even so
oh, even so, I miss you

Posted by JJ Johnson on 11/30/11 at 07:41 PM The earth is a gloomy stain indeed and reaches into infinity. Forever lonliness is a feeling I know well.
Not to get too sidetracked, but this poem reminded me of a recent PBS NOVA program that supports my theory of time. All moments in time and space exist simaltaniously and our conscious minds simply travel through the dimensions in a linear fashion, unable to alter what has already been experienced or what will be through the natural course of events. Everything has happened exactly how it was meant to happen, no matter how much one may wish otherwise, only chaos can alter events yet to come. But as chaos is unpredictable by it's very nature, there is no way to plan for the unexpected and determine the final result. So the best that one can hope for is for chaos itself to randomly smile on ones destiny and end the forever till the end of living without you. jj |

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/01/11 at 02:19 AM The title says it all, and captures that tease of time, in how we seemingly travel across oceans of it, and yet at the same time...stand still. Spacing and lyricism as always, well done. Lori, you've definetely carved out a unique niche in the poetry universe, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm in the craft to keep even the most fickle of readers interested. |

Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/01/11 at 05:01 PM You capture in such a whimsical yet stirring way the enduring feelings of a complex and penetrating relationship. You had me weaving in and out of the heart of this. Thanks. |
