Parku

by Kristina Woodhill

empty bench
wet oak leaf stuck tight
prone black pawn

squirrels scold
acorn caps scattered
small fingers

frisbee spins
frosty ears flying
release catch

favored kiss
trysting tree swaying
count each ring

barks echo
breeze chases leaf tails
full circle

Loved this. Imagery readily invoked. The simplest words set up perfectly so that "small fingers" conjures several pictures. I did not know you lived that close to me. That park is just four houses down from me.

Beautiful I feel as if I am within harmony with nature..a much needed child-like gaze..and I can't even decide which stanza is my favorite! Remarkable work!

I don't think you could have ended that with anything better than "full circle."

Very, very nice - brought me right into this idyllic park (once I got past what I initially perceived as "prone black prawn") ;)

Gees! So evocative in this season dropping all around us in orange-to brown wetness. I like the way I get a feel of wafting as I read your poem. Thanks for a beautiful piece, Kristina.

such a lush tapestry you've woven, Kristina, enough to sustain and warm any wall that it came in contact with.
