Harness of Time

by James Blaylock

her heart longed for
the gentle kiss of time,

and although life had
dealt her some blows,

her spirit was never
hindered by the mountains,

in fact the burdens caused her to
grow stronger, wiser and more caring...

nothing harmed her
more than she allowed

My stanza - #3. I like the way these lines soar. Maybe most of all I love the genius title. It could be a good challenge prompt for us here on pathetic.org. Welcome to the website, James. I am familiar with your work outside of this site and know that you will be a huge asset to our community here. I look forward to many more poems to be posted here.

This is a very thoughtful poem, measured in its presentation, the last two lines giving the true strength of this person. Welcome.

I liked this piece well enough to vote for your joining our club here. I like to think of it as the country club of words although you'll find they do get out-of-sorts here at times. I enjoyed this piece and upon rereading realize it is subjects control of her life that I appreciate. I find I live to close to the abyss to be able to control things that well. As all the above have said, welcome to pathetic. I look forward to more and more.

This is just my kind of poem. Short and sweet, yet the images it creates in my minds eye and the emotions the words invoke all come together in a touching piece. Welcome to Pathetic James.
