A Day

by George Hoerner

The sun rises early in our bedroom
She moves quietly around
As she prepares
For the day

One click and
The coffee pot is on
It does its thing as she
Showers and dries her hair

Her coffee with honey
Courses through her
Helping to rouse her
Mentally for the day ahead

Breakfast is over
Her lunch is made
The dogs get their share
And a quick run in
The small fenced yard

And she is off again
To care for those
With stitches holding
Them together

Lucky they
Have her
As their nurse

George, I love the peaceful feel of this - nice job.

george, reciprocation time. I love this - even though it seems a work day I get a real Sunday feeling from it as each moment simply flows easily and gently into the next. Nice work!

Quite the view from your eyes, George.

I liked how this ordinary morning revealed a very special woman. Thank you, George.

this is quite similar to my morning, this morning, except rather than dogs, she fed the cats, and rather than nurse, she's going to cut hair

Norman Rockwell couldn't have painted a more perfect scene. A day in the life of the poet, George Hoerner.

The gentleness in this puts me in mind of an angel softly - like a whisper - moving about, dusting the area with her silver and trailing it out the door through the double doors onto the shiny sterile floors where vulnerable humans await her touch, her beauty. Thanks for this lovepiece.
