Geography of Loneliness

by Max Bouillet

She keeps
a jar of fingerprints
under her pillow.
Each print
lifted from a lover
that tasted her flesh
long ago.

Late at night,
she lays on her bed
pours them
over her body
and becomes
a map
describing a trip
with no destination.

these incredible images that you have somehow managed to coax out of the muse, who one assumes was and is an old flame? all fall under the heading of par excellence and print themselves on eyeballs.

You know, I read this, and...at first it feels sort of soft and gentle, until it starts to burn....WOW. Nicely executed!

Excellent poem relating to loneliness. I'd love to see one of your art creations complimenting this piece.

How sublime is this? I'm adrift in the demographics...

Eloquently stated, with a nice tinge of sadness at the end.

The imagery in this is fabulous

Wow. This has to be the best map to arrive to the title's destination I've ever read. All encompassing compass...

I've re-read many times this week. So incredibly sad - the fingerprints saved is a brilliant image.

wow! This is an incredible piece of writing. It says so much with just a few words... and I am left wondering how it all happened. A great poem!

You have taken the very elements of loneliness and made them into something beautiful -of loss and pain you made something lovely...and you remind me so much of Theodore Sturgeon's short story, 'Saucer of Loneliness.' There aren't enough good things I could say of this piece.
