Two Stars Converging

by Glenn Currier

Two lovers depart from different ports
see across the water two distant stars
sail on seas both rough and calm
chart their courses sing their psalms.

Their young voyages cross isle to isle
In their eyes a glint, on their lips a smile
These splendid explorers touch their hands
Speak in whispers on common lands.

On the horizons two stars converge
Dreams revealed passions surge
Make their bond for all to hear
Their love creating year to year.

Each pledges to stay in sight
But this mystery a parallel flight
Of the two being themselves
While sounding love's brave bell.

Some say marriage is a ship of tears
Mixed with joy and sadness and fears
But this ship has wings two lovers speak
When hurt, or angry, or strong or weak.

Wings that mount their egos' cloud
To stay their storms as they vowed
To first forgive the other's blunder
To weld and not to split asunder.

From the mast of their vessel a dove
Swoops toward the deck of their love
Where they dance all day until they're old
Finding there two dazzling souls.

Lucky couple to be so remembered by an excellent poem in their honor. Great extended metaphor, Glenn...all the way home and right over the threshold! Thanks.

Most excellent. The rhythm is just almost perfect. The message is right on. You nailed it. Well done.

Great use of metaphor and from one who has traveled for decades on this voyage of marriage I truly appreciate the content. Thank you, smh

I especially like the 5th and 6th stanzas. A fine tribute to joy and the marriage behind it!
