Another Day (haiku)

by Joe David

Sun streaks morning sky
Day breaks through in full glory
Night retreats to wait

Oh Charlie I will never cease to marvel at your sick sense of humor and smile at the raspy exchanges between the Bewildered and the Misbehaving author of See Through which can still be purchased online for $14.95 if you hurry (http://www.alibris.com/search/books/isbn/1413719090). But now that I have taken so much space with theChaz let me turn to the one whom it is really all about. Joe, your poem makes me want to go back to sleep just so I can awaken to its beaming simplicity and truth. Night might retreat, but it always awaits to envelop our daily glories - so why not be in that present sun streaked sky where - if we are truly smart - we can find the eternal now. I am so glad that you are willing to reveal for all of us to observe your love affair with the haiku. You two are creating something delightful new life.

Two solid elements of our existance - day and night - they flow together perfectly in this.

only poets know how to make heads or tails out of day or night, save Michelangelo in his two famous statues depicting such.
