Mother Earth by Joe DavidTears stream down
Becoming mighty rivers
Mother Earth weeps
Abused, tortured, raped
Naked, exposed
Gasping for breath
Coughing on smoke
Toxic water blistering skin
Once declared GOOD
By her Creator
Now painfully dying
She waits
And waits
And waits

Posted by George Hoerner on 09/22/09 at 05:09 PM Good write Joe. It reminds me that I just saw a caller on HLN who said basically that man has nothing to do with it. It is the fault of sun spots and is cyclical in nature. She no doubt also thinks the moon is covered with white cheese and that Santa will take care of everything. Oh, so very sad. |

Posted by Glenn Currier on 09/23/09 at 03:18 PM You know, I have always pohpohed any talk about the end of the world being upon us but, like Charlie, I am no longer sure. I wonder how close we are. Maybe it is just these dark days getting to me. Your poem starkly sets out the sad prospects. |
