A Big Helping

by Glenn Currier

Felicie how many greats
a grandma from France
how many genes in the creel
of my dna were on that ship
to New Orleans and Teche?
Enough to fill a foot or two?

How full am I
after eating fiber, peaches and milk?
I get so consumed
with the vagaries
of the vale of tears
as we Catholics used to say

I become obsessed
with consuming.
The little nettles of the day
fill me to the point
I need repotting.
My anger tells me so.

My real hunger
can’t be satisfied
by fat or sugar
or naked fantasies
I need a big helping
of grace

in a bowl of solitude.

I need repotting.
My anger tells me so.

Thank you for this. Just, thank you Glenn.

There is no more fascinating subject in which a person may become occupied than an examination into the history of his ancestry. But, you go further here, into the now, the future, into yourself. Nice write. Thanks.

Great write Glenn, and I suppose we all could use a little grace if only we could find it. And like the eye of a needle it isn't hard to get involved in the details of daily life all the way down to the grains of sand. I espcially love the color of wind.

The last few lines. Woo. Rocks me like a hurricane. Like the eighties song

"The little nettles of the day fill me to the point I need repotting." - brilliant line. Also love that "bowl of solitude".

If you don't mind Glenn, I will heap a great deal of merit onto this ode, not that it needs my heaping as it is already quite sufficing with IT, merit being this ode's first name and last, even its middle initial is M.
