Dreamtime

by Clara Mae Gregory

There is a dreamtime
where the sun-soaked clouds
gather and purify the pain,
preventing the solace of sunshine
from reaching those down under
until it empties the shards of rain
amidst the thick of thunder
and awakens the rainbow serpent
to arise from his peaceful slumber.

Short but punchy. This has a definite Jim Morrison quality to it; fine update to the "serpent king" as he put it.

Quite interesting analogy! Greatly appeals to the senses.

Your words rumble and thunder wake from slumber - I'm looking for the sun, not knowing whether to fear or admire this rainbow serpent.

truly fantastic images you've woven here, Melanie. a beautiful tapestry of words and sounds, which anyone would be proud to hang on their soul.
