Watermelon Wine

by A. Paige White

All the boy kisses in my life
are flavored watermelon

gloriously watered melon
the moustache

half + a year: half + a century
silver

half + of a year: captures a whole heart
in pudgy little fists

Watermelon Wine
still on the vine

My heart
My mind

Author's Note:

Intoxicating vapors... in a dry season fairer than wine

"I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness
...And I will give her her vineyards from there." Hosea 2:14, 15

Beautiful, amazing piece -- may you have a few more centuries of innocent "watermelon kisses" -- those will be the ones you never forget :)

Gees! You sure do know how to get the attention of this A.D.D. guy! The richness of the images, and luscious, evocative imagery awaken the babe in me.

How easily the pudgy fingers can hold a heart..and squeeze the lines right out. Perfect Paige.

blessed is this watermelon poem and sweet and even more blessed and sweet when it is time to spit out the watermelon seeds in this game to see who could spit them the furthest and I must say this poem goes as far as any seed to hit its mark.
