Bald Wind

by Glenn Currier

Wondering what it would feel like
to notice the wind on my head
I stepped outside and stood still
the warm waves of June
rolling over my baldness
caressing me
into this earth moment.

I had imagined and envied women
experiencing the wind
gently stroking the length
of their hairs
down to the roots
sensual fondles
like so many tiny
follicular orgasms.

But now I basked in the feeling
of warm immersion and oneness
with the tingly thrill
of goddess Wind’s breath
wafting over me
finally grateful
for the genetic inheritance
from mom’s side - peopled
with bald uncles and cousins.

Glen, this is a superb poem showing your appreciation for life's inevitable changes inflicted upon a natural man's body. If only my brother could have such vision and acuity of sensations. And as I try to tell my brother, there are many out there who also appreciate and find the bald (or balding)quite attractive.

Oh, you really DID it, Glenn! It's exquisitely delicious, isn't it? Closing your eyes, letting the "Goddess Wind" do her thing with those feathery wisps of touch...Nicely written. I don't know that I would exactly call the experience, from my point of view, "orgasmic"....LOL. But you're welcome to imagine it that way if it works for you :-)

Ha. I can't relate to the baldness but I do love the soaking in the bath filled with sun

A typhoon came through our hometown once and wiped out my maternal sides waves and curls with a single gust and all I have to show for it is their genes, hehe! This is a wonderful composition, Greg. A unique title and bristling metaphors to back it up.

You know it wouldn't feel the same at all if a bunch of wavy curls were in the way! A fine sense of freedom here and graceful acceptance. Thank you.

Captivating expression of both the physical (hair and baldness) and cerebral (resulting poetics) Glenn. My hairs or lack of haven't quite gotten that far, but hair line has slowly been receding over the years. Some women are very attracted to bald men though, so you shouldn't have any problems breaking free of Alone and Along. :o)

Beautiful! That is EXACTLY what a balmy summer breeze feels like when it slides through my hair.

Oh, how I can relate! LOL!! Except I'd say senuous experience rather than sensual. But a wonderful feeling of freshness! Great descriptive and emotive.

I like this Glenn. For some reason my father was almost completely bald when he died at 54 but I still have quite a good head of hair. My daughter just married and the man is in his 40's and nearly bald. He is very self conscious and wears a hat most of the time. I don't think it would bother me much at this point. Good write.
