APRIL FOOL

by Maude Curtis

When I was a kid on April 1st
I would act like such a clown.
Doing mischief and playing tricks
all around our small town.

But now that I'm grown
to the relief of my folks
my friends will now be safe
and not the butt of my jokes.

I'll not switch the sugar and salt
or turn the pictures upside down
they won't have to dread what's coming next
and go around all day lookin 'round.

So if you get got, It may not be me
being ornery on April Fool's Day,
But if I have a hose in hand
beware of the water I'll spray.

HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY EVERYONE

Good poem. I've never read one based on April Fool's Day. Not one to pull pranks myself, especially those that hurt others, but I love some of the more intelligent pranks, like here at Pathetic and those in the media such as the flying penguins (done with computer FX) news item. I especially like this line: So if you get got. Cheers!
