Faceting

by Charles E Minshall

I bought some expensive gem rough
Cut and glued it on some dops.
I ground and polished the Pavillions (the bottoms)
And then I did the crowns (the tops).

Each facet was perfection
All were glittering in the light,
Then I dropped them on the concrete
My tongue I had to bite.

The drop increased their number
By a considerable amount,
All were fancy gravel
Not worth the metal to mount.

I have to get out my wallet
And start all over again,
Darn it really hurts
My wallet is gettting thin.

If it happens this time
I know what I will do.
I'll glue them back together
With gobs of epoxy glue.

I don't know why, but I pictured you with a mouth full of home-made dentures and each tooth fell one by one at your feet, looking up at you from the sidewalk. :) hehe

hahahahahaa - oh, snap!! or crack! Very clever - I can see this happening very clearly. Your epoxy glue ending caps this nicely.

Hey CharMin. One man's fancy gravel, is another man's art?? (and I love that line, btw) Thanks.

You are so clever almost Suessian in your tale, a real gem that has me smiling. I like glitter and sparkle in my sidewalks....smh

LOL~! As an avid modeler and everything gluer in a past life, Epoxy will work for a while, but keep it away from water!! Charming poem Charlie, and worthy reminder that anything can be turned into poetry...cause everything is poetry.

Humorous in the telling--not so much when it happened I suspect. (Cover my ears! LOL!!)

Although your rhymes as always bring a smile, methinks this one also reveals someone with patience, parsimony, and persistence. A moment in time that dropping, but what a whopping good poem.
