Far Away Time

by George Hoerner

some would
call it gloomy
this day
a heavy haze
hangs in the sky

a light fog occupies
low lying areas
as if circumstance
could find no
better place
to leave it

the leaves
finally disgusted
with life
have turned red,
yellow, orange
and hang lifeless
or drop and are
blown away
turning to dust

the evergreens only
seem still
to have hope

the sun
and the earth
are unimpressed
continuing as
they have for eons
making just minor
adjustments in
their positions

something like
parallel lines
who after
what seems
infinite time
having never met
they decide now
to do so at
infinity

Hey George. This s exemplary, wonderful poem/prose. I feel taken from the small dead leaves (even my our from steps) to the axis of our very world. Nice! Thanks. That's a potd pick from my humble corner!

There's definitely a fear of losing something in this. That's just how I see it, but it does feel like it can be found in every wonderful line in this.

The first stanza describes our yesterday here perfectly for part of the morning. I like the idea of parallel lines meeting in infinity. Very enjoyable read. Thank you.

...minor adjustments, hanahahahahahaha, to us bi-peds, massively major and yet to the cosmos, multiverse, minor, yeah, minor...lovely snapshot ala hubble telescopy...

Carl Sagan would have been proud. I love the flow of this George, and of course the last stanza says it all.

Great commentary on the inevitability of nature and the infinate universe. I really enjoyed reading this poem.

as usual, George, you have your eye on the ball, whether that ball be the sun or the earth, and the wind in the trees caused by the sun and the earth's spin. and you my friend are always beaming and spinning such tales as stay red and leafy and true in my head.

Congrats on POTD George. Well deserved. I guess this one slipped by me when you first posted it.
