That day

by Vrinda Agrawal

I realize now
They were his dreams
They stayed for more than a night and visited often
They were so abstract
Maybe they were too simple.

I realize now
These are the words of his beautiful song
When I sing them to myself
They remind me of something else
Maybe they need his voice.

I realize now
Every time I write
It is for the words that I didn’t say
And when I have gathered them all
I can stop going back to that day.

Wow, welcome to pathetic.org Vrinda! Such a sharp twist in that last stanza, saying it all, about the end of a relationship.

Definitely a great shot from left field in those closing thoughts of yours. Great stuff.

Using contradiction you describe the ambiguity of a lost relationship adeptly. Welcome to Pathetic.org.

the words you present here are well gathered and I don't know if their having been gathered discontinue the journey of going back to that day, but are fuel only to add to the experience of having been effected so we can't let it slide or set it aside, but it is with us always front and center almost as if to guide us.
