Big River Radio by Johnny CrimsonWalking down the tracks I get dizzy.
Try and spin this life around,
Lying to my baby daily.
Lying on the freezin' ground.
Got to get back to Stereo,
Oklahoma City line carry me home.
Fibbed about a girl I met
while walkin' down the road
Followed me down to the river bed
Must have been a year ago
She took my hand
and did a dance
Barefoot in the mud
Called it the jibby-shake-and-bake
Got stupid and fell in love.
Now I jumped off my greyhound
Jumped off my Railroad Train
Jumped off that other relationship
With the girl who wasn't in the rain
Going back down to that bed
And I'm sure that she's still there
Doin' that jibby-shake-and-bake
Just a dancin' naked bare
I'm sure I'll find what I first saw
when I went down to that place
I saw a corpse with a radio
playin' on top her face
So I gave it up for nothing much
but my curiosity
In fact I never had neither one of them
just shows how dreamy I can be

Author's Note: Big River Radio keeps playin' in my sleep
Begging for my solid attention

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/11/08 at 06:47 PM Excellent poetry/lyrics man! Well put together hip hop. |
Posted by Coleman Demiurge on 07/11/08 at 07:54 PM Excellent indeed; I like it. Kind of reminds me of Johnny Cash songs. Maybe because of the title, I don't know; nevertheless, it's obviously doing something right... Very nicely done. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/15/08 at 12:47 AM Love the lyrics of this dreamy place of yours, especially "jibby shake and bake", and "I saw a corpse with a radio
playin' on top her face". Lots of action, the surreal, and a satisfying ending. Thank you.

Posted by Glenn Currier on 07/16/08 at 05:54 PM I can't say how many a country and blues singer I hear in your lyrics, but they make me smile and jiggle inside just a bit, yearning for the tune buried inside of this piece. Well done, indeed. |
