are you going there?

by George Hoerner

are you going there?
may i come too

may i hold the wheel
and captain this ship
through the ocean
of our love -
stand on the deck and
watch the wind tossed waves?

the cargo you carry
is precious -
what spice? - what liquor?
ever offered up from
distant shores a taste
or sense one tenth
the inebriate air
of your perfume -
the soft sands of nowhere
match your softness -

your heart as star to guide
your thighs as port -
hold tight my love
ride high with me on
the storm tossed sea

there is a shore -
a safe lighthouse
though drenched and
tired there will be
soft gentle nights

a gentle breeze from my lips
will brush across your body and
time will have to wait -

the sun, stars,
and moon will try to
match our quiet gentle
loving ways -

storms will
never understand how
our passion and gentleness
ride side by side

Oh my, how beautiful your words paint a romantic picture of togetherness. Simply lovely.

Excellent use of the maritime analogy to convey love George. Glad I had a chance to read this truly inspirational poem. It's all great, but I especially enjoyed this stanza: your heart as star to guide your thighs as port – hold tight my love ride high with me on the storm tossed sea

Glad to see this reposted then. Ships and the sea can hold much romance, as fact and metaphor. Delighted! Thanks.

it is incredible what love will do to the quill and the heart of one, love which lends its fodder for such writing as this. so blissful to read this work which is no less than art which should be hanging in some museum, that is, if museums know what is good for them.
