Posted by Coleman Demiurge on 12/29/07 at 09:17 PM Yeah, 3 AM is supposedly the "witching hour" - the opposite of 3 PM (the supposed hour Christ was born). Never had any problems with it personally, but if I ever do I will know to get two cats. Thank you; great piece. ;) |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 12/30/07 at 03:00 PM So you've been awakened during the night for no apparent reason too! Is it from left over childhood nightmares? Enjoyed this poetic view of what is probably a common human event. |
Posted by Wendy Sparling on 12/31/07 at 03:37 AM I feel like stretchingggggggg.... |
Posted by Rhiannon Jones on 01/01/08 at 04:15 AM you've hit on something, i think...my cats and i have had this 3 AM experience many times. I remember reading once that 3 AM is the time when humans think least logically...perhaps it is the other way round for cats. |
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/01/08 at 08:06 PM Love the wordplay in this "Night Paws" especially!! That pause in sleep is entrancing... and the two cats in unison as one being, and human you as the other, "simultaneously" wake and sleep is playful as well. The "dead time" is multiphonic and allows for many playful interpretations! |
Posted by Morgan D Hafele on 01/02/08 at 09:11 AM it's nights like that that make for the best days afterward even though once i awaken i typically don't fall back to sleep... but maybe that's because i don't have 2 cats... |
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 01/02/08 at 09:14 PM Mystical comforting creatures, cats. And maybe smarter than dogs. You could never get eight cats to pull a sled through snow. But, getting us through a winter's night is a cinch. Thanks. |

Posted by Alisa Js on 01/13/08 at 05:54 AM lol... what a great visual here, Chris.... and yet, cats can be most comforting as well. I have two Siamese.... cheers! alisa ;-) |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/01/09 at 02:37 PM Ah, the soft symbiotic relationship between these two species seems to be doubly nourished in bed, both dreaming - away from life's hectic consciousness. Very nice, Chris. zzzzzzzzzzzzz |
Posted by Jody Pratt on 11/27/11 at 09:48 PM Simple and brilliant. Also, this positively reflects cats so I have to love it. |
