chocolate cake in the dark

by Mary Frances Spencer

a bunch of poets
savoring slices
chocolate cake
in the dark
somehow smacks of
guilt-free decadence
taste
creamy rich
luxurious
on lips
sweet

our pens
swirl

saturday afternoon workshop

in a dimly lit
back room
we are
writing
about
women

Mmmm...chocolate cake...my favourite. Yup, men like it too!

poets, chocolate, pens, swirls... all kinds of possibilities there and then mix in that female energy and it becomes downright volatile. Evocative poem, Mary Frances.
