Posted by Rhiannon Jones on 09/27/07 at 12:05 PM Yea, we still await their arrival down here...maybe we southerners will be goose-penning soon. Thanks for an amusing contribution, Chris. |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 09/27/07 at 01:27 PM Most interesting and entertaining mix of fact and fiction! Canada geese are really with us here in MD all year! But we also see the migratory flocks! An expected and always appreciated sight! |
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 09/27/07 at 05:03 PM Ah and so this is how myths are born I think! I love the image and it must have originated from such a sight as this. Googling geese as I may, they argue it at every turn, why not, impossible--well-- thank goodness we have eyes to see, imaginations to re-invent and poems to write! Liberating poem, funny, and sweet. Ma would love it, too. |
Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 09/29/07 at 03:37 PM Chris, I am getting goose bumps reading this :) |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 09/29/07 at 04:13 PM Yes, my 86 yr-old mom asked me just the other day if I thought the hummingbirds were flying south on the geese yet!! Ha! Great poem and pictures and the fact that you saw it with your own eyes!!! As Kathleen said - "so this is how myths are born".... Most enjoyable read. |
Posted by Jean Mollett on 09/29/07 at 04:24 PM Hi Chris,
Great write, love the cartoons too. How did you do that? I didn't know that, but it could be possible. Yeah, it won't be long birds with be heading South for the winter. You would think all birds fly South for the winter, but some don't. We have some birds here thru out the winter. |
Posted by Jean Mollett on 09/29/07 at 04:25 PM Fun read too. |

Posted by Glenn Currier on 10/04/07 at 01:19 PM What a flight! You are soooo creative. That first graphic is awesome. You begin my day with a chuckle, a smile, and a fresh, deep breath. You know, the kind you breathe in when you feel that spiritpeace. I envy you the Great White North. The place that seems to hatch a special breed of poets... like you, my friend... Thanks for the first class flight. |
Posted by Paganini Jones on 11/03/07 at 12:20 AM Good to read this one again. Great fun! (I think you have edited it a tad? It reads well.) |
