in the mud

by Travis G Finborg

insensitive the brush of bearing
i lay about without remorse
a blatant disregard

selfish i squalor alone
determined to build the walls
surround myself

down here the light is dim
and sound travels slow
a dull thump

I aim to destroy all ties
remove any kind touch
dissolve the care

 I seek no pity
I aim only to revel in the mud
alone and contented

I love the third stanza: "down here the light is dim and sound travels slow a dull thump" ... you've taken an emotion and blown some life into it, Travis. I know what it's like to be down in the muck, building walls and truly wanting to be there. Thanks for the read.

A place I know all too well. Thanks for putting it so eloquently into words. Adds to favourites.

A fine POTD. Capped by that perfect last word.

There is such a rich, earthy humanity here, aglow, nothing dim about that! I look forward to more, jewels
