A New Beginning

by Joan Serratelli

When she died
Heaven opened
and there he stood
the man she had married
all those years ago

He smiled and said
"I've been waiting
I died 9 years ago
but my love was still alive"

So, off they walked together
the way they had done
all those years ago
when they were very young

"I've been alone here,
my love, watching you
finish your life"
I know we now have
great grandchildren
who have rounded
out your life"

"But now my wait
is over
and we can start again
Young, healthy, happy
That's how it all began"

The young couple walked away
hand in hand
renewing the life
that they had once shared

Loved ones on both sides now for your mom! This is a fine tribute to their enduring love. I am very sorry for your loss, Joan.

It's just the way I imagine it will be for my grandmother, who is more like my mother than anything. She dreams about grandpa every night, little ordinary things like them having lunch, or walking through the garden. It's beautiful!

What a beautiful tribute to both your parents. I love their joining of hands and the fact that your father had been watching over your mother all those years. Love does live on.
