A Mother's Heart

by Alisa Js

She loved him yet had to let him go
For reasons not stated aloud to many back then
Only to a chosen few,
Unsure of how to carry on
At that moment in time, such a fragile and tender bud
Still trying to find her way
In this world with all its twists and turns …

Her heart was always incomplete
Missing a part
All those years that passed between,
Beat with a wish
Of one day, somehow
To talk to him
If she only could,
Albeit now rather difficult …

Just to sit and say
‘I loved you, son’

I pray you’ll understand
This path I took
When you and I were so very young
And options few,
Too young to do much of anything
But you have to know
I carried you
Inside my soul,
So close to me
For all my days,
And reaching out
I tried, my dear
Before I stepped beyond this earthly veil …

You were always right by my heart
I love you son …

Alisa, thank you for a beautiful story of a decision with a happy ending. Soulo has shared part of his story with me, but I didn't know all of it. Now I know.

I just need to clarify, dear Alisa - I'm really, REALLY touched by this. Especially since I'm flying to my hometown soon to be with my four sisters and biological dad. This means a lot to me. Mahalo, kind soul!

Well thought out poetic reflection of a difficult subject and heart wrenching situation to find oneself in. Hat's off to you Alisa. And thanks for steering me into this one. :o)

Allowing oneself to make a choice for the love of you dearest treasure as a mother. Is the most difficult, the hardest thing in the universe. I can't truly imagine it being an easy choice. My mom was adopted,we are still finding family. Its a wondrous journey often times with hidden surprises and beautiful treasures. We even find likenesses, likes and dislikes, suddenly we begin to make sense as to who we are. My mom, loves her family, I think they are all weird, which is great because, that explains me..*lol* no kidding folks! A Mothers love is endless, timeless and knows no bounds. I know, I'm a mom, I watched this year as my son, became a father, I mourned this year because, it is the soon to be the anniversary of my other sons death. A mothers love...really, knows no bounds...I rambled!!! See, thats my weirdness!!

I am floored by such a beautiful, yet gut-wrenching tribute to Soulo and his story. Thank you both for sharing. This is the true spirit of poetry!

This story has touched many people, and to put it in a poem is such a gift.

This is absolutely beautiful. So far, the best thing you've ever written.

Sincerity floods the room. A cherishing poem.

Namaste, Alisa!

(and Soulo: you are a cherished joy!)

Alisa, I can feel the mother's love and emotions flooded throughout this poem. Beautiful and artfully written.

Hi Alisa, It's beautiful, yet so sad too. A tribute for this Mother. Lots of Lve there, she did her best. Letting go of her son, was what she thought was best for him. That would surely be hard to do. I hope they get to be together again.

His story is so sad, he didn't get to meet his real Mom before she passed away. Now, he's found a sister and maybe more family. I can see why you had to write this story.
