Seafood Bisque

by JD Clay

Yesterday I chased

A windburn west

Northwest off Point

Conception

The sullen sea put on

An arctic face that stole

My disposition

And my favorite hat

Now that's good soup

I think soup and wind explain about half the emotions in life. Love this aroma from you kitchen. Thanks.

'sullen sea' and 'chased a windburn west' are great lines. Isn't seafood bisque the soup that got George Castanza in trouble? I digress.

Now I'm hungry for soup....

*cackle* nice. tsk. now, what were the ingredients, eh?

"... The sullen sea put on An arctic face that stole My disposition And my favorite hat ... " Yes! That is definitely good soup! I tip my hat to you. :)

A vocation affirming epiphany and breath of fresh air in more ways than one!

I love the idea that the sea is your big soup bowl, and it just begs for your best ingredients-- for this meal-- your disposition and your hat... I'd say you were dispossesed by a brisk (no I mean bisque!) wind and you forced to throw in yout hat.

what a great metaphor for living life!!!! Indeed!!!

Good Soup indeed! You can paint such epic pieces in so few words. Of course, there's almost always that Jadi twist on the end... your signature/style. Okay, and signature. Heh.

Such a incredible scene. The "sullen sea" - nice to give the sea an emotion like that, because it gives the rest of the poem the tone that sets the stage. Still not getting me out on the ocean in a boat.

My eyes couldn't help but linger on this one. Rather enjoyed it.

I can see the hat in that seasoup. I was going to say at least you didn't lose your head, but the sea got your head too as proven with your well-conceived poem. Reminds me of wintry days on Galveston island and the way the winds penetrated the coat and the pysche.

The wind blows cold on a hungry soul. Lets hope the wind wears your hat with the respect due a wordsmith of your stature. :)
