ANXIETY

by Joan Serratelli

ANXIETY
Anxious about everything
a feeling
in the pit of my stomach
goes straight to my brain
and clouds my thinking

ANXIETY
I need it to go away
to be free
to think, not dwell on the bad
I want to laugh, not cry
to live, not die

ANXIETY
this feeling
is killing me
making it impossible
for me to be me
I need to get rid of it
before
it gets rid of me

ANXIETY

Author's Note: Been feeling a bit anxious lately. I'm trying to "Purge" it out of me by writing about it.

Well crafted - I like this.

The way you repeat ANXIETY hammers the message home so well. Great work here.

Yes, the fear of the fear, a projected scene in an assumed time. Writing does help like a talking out session.

Joan, I see this as a mirror image of me some days. And yes, writing sure does help. :o)

I like how the word ANXIETY builds the feeling by repeating...sometimes, as poets, we've just gotta write things out...besides, anxiety and stress causes acid to build within us, throwing our bodies off balance, and we can't have that! ;) I wish you peaceful thoughts and lots of laughs, Joan...peace to you, *jewels*

Indeed writing does help a lot in giving us something to take hold of, a way to get a better grip from the slippery slope. It is a thin line between the assumed situation and the past association, whereas we want to be just ON the line, the very present. I see your struggle so distinctly and emphathize as I have been through it often. :-)

I must agree with those above me, the repitition of the word is perfect to build an urgency. I got anxious reading this.... but in a good way. ;)

Joan, I just came across this gem. I understand how anxiety can overtake someone and just plain move in for a bit. You put it in a very good, descriptive display of words. Thank you for the read. :)
