A Little More Than Haiku

by Chris Sorrenti

Bad News

as I approach second childhood
tears flow more easily
when upon word those dearest
have returned to the womb

Ethnic Cleanliness

negro toddler waves hello to me
from front porch
his mother beside him laughs
seeing me smile, wave back

Domestic Bliss I

housewife knits happily
to keep mind and hands busy enough
from reaching for calorie unwise snacks

Domestic Bliss II

while some surround themselves
with luxurious walls and furniture
to attain happiness they cannot take beyond
others need only paper and pen
to fill the halls of their hearts
for the palace ahead

I love all four. The title of the second makes me grin - very clever. DB II is my fav - "to fill the halls of their hearts for the palace ahead"...

though I sound as an echo, the DB II is a favorite for me, though Bad News is insightful, and DB I makes me smile...well done Chris, peace, *jewels*

Got a good laugh out of these. Wonderful Chris! I may not be a housewife, but Domestic Bliss I certainly describes me.

these Haikus go beyond the pleasure principle, they are soulful and dig and groove and pump and lend sacred blood to a poet's heart.

Yes, it's MEANING which serves LIFE most...that's what I saw. Well done as always.

Yes, the 'domestic bliss' does manifests in some in the 'meaning', the only refined way to survive.
