Star Love

by Chris Sorrenti

     for Barb R

Like an Earthbound sun
amid a galaxy of light bulbs
femininity radiates from you
as no other

A close encounter
conversation dared
sustains me for days
leaving only wonder

If I put my arms around you
pressed my lips to yours
would I burn to a cinder
or be Superman transformed?

Terrific cosmic heat here - I love the ending question.

I liked the sci-fi feeling to this. It is beautiful, yet cosmic. Loved the ending :-)

So very optimistic, amid times in which passion, unattended, will burn to its own destruction. And the poets dreamed...

Reminds me somewhat of some of Lampman's poems for his Kate, very beautiful.

Cosmic question of the ages, "would I burn to cinder or be or be Superman transformed?" such power you have assigned to femininity as if it were indeed kryptonite...yet with this poem women will swoon if you were indeed Superman...clever CS, very clever. smh :)

Indeed... star love...and all that entails... the wonder of the energy shared and experienced is totally amazing.... I have written a poem about this type of encounter with the exact same name a couple of years ago, amazing... I will look for it and post it.. and you can see.. thanks again for your time and kind sentiment.. aloha..;-)

The bounty of risk slides off of your poem into the heart. I gather from your text / a moment's delight with the opposite sex. Rock on, Chrisman.
